Action Figures

 

Articulation The amount and quantity of movable joints and parts of an action figure to make it more poseable.   
Assortment Defines the series of an action figure line. For example: "X-Men, Monster Armor".
Assortment number The numerical listing that toy companies use to identify the series of an action figure line. This number is usually found somewhere on the
packaging of the toy. For example, "ASST. NO. 41245".
Blister Refers to the clear plastic shell (attached to the card) encasing the action figure inside.  
Card Refers to the cardboard backing of an action figure's packaging that the blister is attached to. 
Carded Denotes an unopened action figure, usually understood to be in mint
condition.  
CNP Complete No Package, an abbreviation used in the description of a toy's condition.
"C" Scale (a.k.a. C-1 through C-10) A common grading system used to convey the condition of a toy being sold or traded among collectors. For complete details see Grading Guide for Carded Action Figures by Eric G. Myres.   C10 - Mint    C8-9 - Near Mint        C6-7 - Fine        C4-5 - Good        C2-3 - Poor        C1 - Very Poor  
Die cast A toy manufactured out of metal.
Foreign card Refers to the backing card of an action figure not sold in the United States,
and usually displays the print of a language other than English. 
Loose Defines the the condition of a toy that has been removed from its packaging and may be missing some accessories or parts that the toy originally came with.        
MIB Mint in Box. The figure must be mint.
MIMB Mint in Mint Box. Both the box and the figure must be mint condition.
MINMB Mint In Near Mint Box, an abbreviation used in the description of a toy's condition.      
MINMP Mint In Near Mint Package, an abbreviation used in the description of a toy's condition. 
MIP Mint In Package, an abbreviation used in the description of a toy's condition.   
MOC Mint on Card. The figure is in original unopened package.
MOMC Mint-on-mint-card.  The figure is in an original, unopened, mint condition package, with both the card and the figure in mint condition.
MONMC Mint On Near Mint Card, an abbreviation used in the description of a toy's condition.   
NRFB "Never Removed From Box", an abbreviation used in the description of a toy's condition. 
Prototype These are the test molds of future figures. Usually made for the sole purpose  of showing the detail of the figure before it goes into full production  
and for the most part appear unpainted.   
Re-issue A manufacturing process of re-producing or re-casting a toy from an existing mold and re-distributing it to toy retailers. Usually following a sell-out
of the original run.       
Repaint A manufacturing process of repainting or casting an existing toy in a different  
color plastic in order to create a "new" toy.    
Shortpack A figure that is packed in reduced ratios per shipment case. Typically
one per case, while the other figures in the same case come two, three  
or even four to a case.    
Variation Variations are minor changes made to the figure which usually result from one or more of the following: the correction of flaws or defects that made 
it into the retail market, changes to comply with government safety regulations, or identical figures produced in different molds.
