About Uncirculated A grading term used to describe a coin that is nearly new
Abrasion         Light friction, a shallow scrape, or a mark on the surface of a coin
Abrasive A harsh cleaning agent that destroys the surface of a coin
Adjustment mark Scratches made when a file is used to lower the weight of a planchet before striking
Album A holder designed to store and display coins
Alloy A blend of different metals
Circulated A coin which is used as currency in day-to-day life. Eg. the coin in your wallet right now.
Exonumia A particular section of numismatics, exonumia is the study of medals and tokens
Mint mark The letter/s on a coin that mark where the coin was minted (ie. O for New Orleans, USA)
Mint An organisation that creates and distributes the currency of that country
Notaphily A particular section of numismatics, notaphily is the study of note or paper money
Numismatics The study of monetary items, such as coins, note money, stocks and bonds
Planchet The disc used to impress the image onto the coin
Scripophily A particular section of numismatics, scripophily is the study of stocks and bonds
Uncirculated condition A coin that has not been placed in circulation; for use by average people everyday for monetary tender; it doesn't have wear and tear from use
